Fulham Football Club is a team based in London. They were founded in 1879 and celebrated their 125th anniversery in 2004. Fulham are also the oldest professional club in London founded in 1879 as Fulham St.Andrew's Church Sunday School.
They spent alot of time in the first division through the 1960s, but have never actually gained any major honours. Then in 1975, Fulham were a second division team, they contested in the FA Cup final for the only time in their history, only to lose 2-0 against West Ham United. In 2002, Fulham managed to qualify for the UEFA Cup by winning the Intertoto Cup when they beat Bologna 5-3 in the final over two legs, but sadly they only managed to get through two rounds before facing Hertha Berlin and losing 2-1 on aggregate. During the 1990s they had a brief spell in the Fourth Division (which now no longer exists) but they recovered spectaculary by 2000.
Fulham are currently playing at Craven Cottage, the famous stadium, that was built in 1896, to the side of the River Thames in Fulham. Some of you may remember Loftus Road, where Fulham played while Craven Cottage was getting renovated up to the standards Premier League, it took two years to be fully renovated, but it is rumoured that Fulham could make a return to The Loft while the capacity of Craven Cottage is expanded form 26,000 to 30,000. The clubs training ground is loacated near Motspur Park, where Fulham's academy is also situated, which also includes a mini-stadium where some of the reserves play. The Fulhams Ladies' team also played the majority of their games here, untill they were stopped in the summer of 2006.
The history of Fulham is long and vast, but no manager has done the impossible yet and won a major trophy, can the orchestrator of the great escape win that trophy and become a cottagers legend?
